Can Earwigs Pinch You?
Technically, yes.
If an earwig feels trapped or threatened, it may use its pincers as a defense mechanism.
Fortunately, their pinch is usually:
- Mild
- Short-lived
- Not strong enough to break skin in most cases
For most people, the experience is little more than a minor surprise.
Are Earwigs Harmful to Dogs and Cats?
Pet owners often worry when they find unfamiliar insects indoors.
Thankfully, earwigs pose very little risk to household pets.
They are:
- Non-toxic
- Non-venomous
- Not known to transmit diseases
- Unlikely to cause injury
If a curious dog or cat happens to eat an earwig, serious health problems are extremely unlikely. At worst, some pets may experience mild digestive upset.
